University of Arizona White Out Game

When you walk into McKale on GameDay, you will most likely be greeted with a sea of red shirts on all the fans. Of course, our Navy Blue always makes an appearance, but one color you rarely see on multiple people is white.

On January 28, 2012 ESPN strolled into town to feature the Arizona vs. Washington game on its College GameDay primetime spot.
We, at Arizona, do not take this honor lightly.

For many of the students, the majority of their day was devoted to standing in line for at least 3 hours to get into the game.

No amount of waiting is ever too much for Wildcat fans. Every minute of waiting is worth it to watch the game and scream wildly with the strangers all around you.
Gotta love basketball season at Arizona.

For the second year, fans were instructed to wear white to the game vs Washington so we could ‘white out McKale’.
 I think we succeeded.

As always, in the midst of all my cheering, I am constantly observing fashion trends at each game. When you attend any other game throughout the year, its easy to know what to expect, but when you throw a curve ball like a white out into the mix, things get interesting. How do people stand out in the World of Game Day Fashion when everyone is wearing the same color?
As I looked around at fans and took note of what they were wearing, I noticed a lot of dark jeans being paired with the white shirts.

Dark jeans are always a great staple item for any closet. Not only are they a popular fashion trend, but no matter your shape or size, dark jeans always provide a flattering look. For events like basketball games, its always a good idea to wear comfortable clothing, especially when you are sitting or standing at some point during the game. These Wildcat fans look comfortable and fashionable as they head to the game.

Another popular fashion choice for Wildcats fans are long socks. While you don’t typically see long socks as fashion trends throughout society, on the University of Arizona campus, they are making their statement, especially at sporting events.

Long socks can give a playful touch to any game going attire, especially when they are repping the Red and Blue!

While the game was a heartbreaking loss for our team and their fans, the Cats will never have a shortage of true fans.

As always- Bear Down, Arizona
